A home is incomplete without a bar unit where you can unwind with your favorite brew. And having bar at home doesn’t need to have a whole room allocated for it. It can be created even in a cozy corner, using a bar cart if space is a constraint.
All You need for stocking your bar is some basic equipment, a few essential liquors and drink mixers and you are all set to invite your friends and family over, for a drink.
Let’s have a look at the essentials of owning and operating a bar at home.
Storing Liquor
All liquor needs to be kept in a cool place and away from direct sunlight. Also, if the level of liquor in a bottle is low, it will need to be consumed quickly as the air inside the bottle will suck the flavor out of the drink.
Barware
These isn’t a whole lot of equipment you will need to be able to mix a cocktail. All you need is an ice bag, a bar spoon, a muddler, a jigger, a cocktail shaker, a strainer and a few ice cube trays.
Glassware
There are three basic types of glasses that you would need in your home bar – a short glass, a tall glass and a stem. Six to eight of these should be more than enough. And if you want to serve wine at your get togethers, the you would need to invest in 8-12 basic stemmed wineglasses that you can use for both red and white wines.
Alcohol And Mixers
To get creative with your cocktails, you don’t need to stock your bar with a huge number of expensive liquor brands. About 6-8 base spirits and a few essential mixers is all you need to be able to turn out the classic cocktails like a pro and even be able to invent cool recipes of your own. Cheers!
