If you want your home to feel light, fresh, and ready for Holi, but the idea of “big cleaning” makes you want to run away, this is for you. Instead of one exhausting weekend, this 21-day declutter plan breaks the work into small, realistic steps.
One task a day.
15–30 minutes.
And you can always shuffle days around to suit your schedule.
Looking to get your interiors done?
Day 1: Map Your Mess
No cleaning today. Just walk through your home and list your top clutter zones: entryway, wardrobe, drawers, pantry, balcony, bathroom, work desk. This is your action map.
Interiors in need of an upgrade?
Day 2: Reset the Fridge
Clear expired food, old leftovers, and mystery containers. Wipe shelves and group items by type so you can actually see what you have.
Day 3: Clothes You Don’t Wear
Go through your main wardrobe and pull out anything you haven’t worn in 6–12 months. Create a keep, donate, and repair/alter pile.
Day 4: Entryway Calm
Clear shoes, bags, helmets, keys, and mail. Give each category a home: a hook, a tray, a basket. Your front door should feel welcoming, not stressful.
Day 5: Pantry; Dry Groceries
Check dates on flours, spices, snacks, and ready mixes. Toss expired, donate what you won’t use, and group the rest logically.
Day 6: Bathroom Products
Empty shelves and drawers. Let go of expired creams, dried-up makeup, and half-used shampoos you don’t like. Put back only what you actually use.
Day 7: Dresser Drawers & Innerwear
Empty all drawers, sort by category, and only keep what fits and feels good. This one change makes mornings so much easier.
Need to refresh your interiors?
Day 8: The Junk Drawer
Everyone has one. Empty it completely. Toss broken bits, dried pens, random screws. Use small boxes or dividers to keep the rest in neat groups.
Day 9: Kids’ Stuff or Hobby Corner
Choose one: toys, art supplies, craft material, or your own hobby stash. Keep what’s loved or used, donate or discard the rest.
Day 10: Kitchen Cabinets
Pick 2–3 cabinets only. Remove everything, wipe, and let go of chipped plates, extra glasses, unused serveware and duplicate tools.
Day 11: Masalas, Condiments
Check your spice box, bottles, sauces, chutneys and pickles. Toss what’s stale, empty, or never used. Label what remains clearly.
Day 12: Shoes & Bags
Pull out all shoes and bags. Clean, pair, and keep what’s in good shape and fits your current lifestyle. Donate or discard the rest.
Day 13: Paper Pile & Mail
Collect loose papers from all over the house. Sort into: must keep, scan, recycle. Create one fixed spot for important documents.
Day 14: Balcony, Utility, or Outdoor Area
Clear old pots, broken stands, cardboard boxes, useless buckets, and random storage. Aim for open floor space and easy sweeping.
Day 15: Linen, Towels
Sort bedsheets, pillow covers, and towels. Keep usable, soft sets. Turn worn-out pieces into cleaning rags or let them go.
Day 16: Kitchen Containers
Match every dabba with its lid. Toss warped, stained, or lid-less containers. Decide how many you realistically need.
Day 17: Cookware & Bakeware
Edit down kadais, pans, pressure cookers, tavas, cake tins. Keep your favourites and essentials; donate the rest. Store so everything is easy to reach.
Day 18: Medicine Box
Check expiry dates and get rid of old medicines safely. Group items into categories like fever, cold, pain, first aid, and keep them in one labeled box.
Day 19: TV Unit, Cords & Gadgets
Tidy remotes, USBs, chargers, extra cables, old set-top boxes. Keep only what belongs to devices you still use. Tie or hide visible wires.
Day 20: Sentimental Shelf
Pick one small sentimental area: a box, a drawer, or one shelf. Keep the best of the best, let go of duplicates and “I don’t even remember this” items.
Day 21: Donations, Recycling & Final Touch
Today is action day. Drop off donations, schedule pickups, recycle responsibly, and throw actual trash out of the house. Then give your home one light sweep, fluff cushions, change a bedsheet, light a candle or diya… and enjoy how much clearer, calmer, and Holi-ready your space feels.
A little declutter every day; a lot more breathing space by the time the colours arrive; and your home is HomeBliss-ready!
