In with the new, out with the old. Early predictions about color and style are taking tentative steps into the world of interior design for a better and fresher tomorrow. While some shades will grab eyeballs, some shades will fade away as they lose their charm.

Shades such as gray have dominated our palette for the past few years, but will soon bite the dust as they make room for new and more exciting shades. So, what are the other shades we should be shunning this year? Let’s see what the predictions say.
Shade One- Pink

Pink is undeniably gorgeous. It was always a great pick for the teenage girl’s room, until it ventured into the living room too. But we all can agree that it is more of a fad color that will disappear without leaving a memorable footprint. While this color has a lot going for it, it works better as an accessory shade than wall paint. So whether it is strawberry pink or the peachy version, give it a miss. And hey, if you love peach shades on your walls, go for it. However, make sure to use dark and bold accents, and patterns to tone down this shade. Muted greens such as jade or gray come to mind.
Shade Two- Beige

Beige shades that have a hint of orange or yellow, such as champagne, are on their way out. While this is one of the most popular neutral shades, it doesn’t contribute much to the decor. A popular designer puts it aptly when they say it is unimaginative and seems to fall flat on its face. If you must use it, go for lighter shades of beige or white instead. Pair these shades with rust or brown accents for a classic touch.
Shade Three- Gray

Gray is timeless and has many avatars. But it seems to have lived out its usefulness if designers are to be believed. With brighter shades and patterns set to make a splash next year, gray seems tame in comparison, as it doesn’t pack a punch. We would like to sit on the fence on this one. Gray has its moments and will always have a say in the world of design, especially shades leaning toward blue. However, gray in combination with neutral shades can be uninspiring, so choose bright accents to pep things up a bit. These could be patterns in black and white, yellow, rust, or even red.
Shade Four- Brown

Dark brown has gained a lot of interest as a rich hue in recent times. However, it has run its course and it’s time to say adios and move on. If you must use this hue, try animal prints or accessories on a light beige or pearl background for impact. Another alternative is to use dark brown wooden furniture and then pick the shade you want for your walls. Whether it is dark or light wood, wooden furniture takes the decor up a notch, no matter what color you use. As most shades match this rich hue, you will have no trouble styling your decor.
Shade Five- Navy Blue

Navy blue has style and sophistication, but with overuse, this shade has lost its charm. However, that doesn’t mean you give blue shades a pass. There are many gorgeous shades, such as turquoise blue, teal, or shades that have strong gray elements in them, to add a unique touch to your decor.
Summing Up

Trends come and go, so they shouldn’t be taken too seriously. At the end of the day, if you love a rich navy blue shade on the wall, you can pull off an exotic decor with the right frills and add-ons. And hey, if you don’t love the trending shades, it makes no sense to splash them on your walls. For more ideas on color trends and ideas, check out our blogs on homebliss.in and get inspired.
