Cleaning is a strenuous chore that most of us aren’t thrilled at the prospect of.
How about we take the ‘strain’ out of cleaning, and suggest a few handy tips that can make your life easier? You can thank us later! Read on to know more!
1. Clean The Ceiling Fan Without Leaving A Mess On The Floor
Here’s how you can handle the dustiest of ceiling fans in the most painless way:
Take an old pillowcase and spray its inside with any surface-cleaning spray. Using a ladder, climb up and slide the pillowcase on a fan blade. Bunch-up the mouth of the pillowcase over the blade and slide it off the blade, taking all the dirt with you. Repeat for all the other blades. And guess what? A squeaky-clean fan and no mess on the floor! How easy was that?
2. Remove Oil Build-Up From Kitchen Cabinets
Sometimes it takes oil to remove oil! Tired of all the oil and grime build-up on your cabinet doors and handles? Here’s how you can clean them without painful scrubbing.
Take 1-part vegetable oil and 2-parts baking soda, and mix them well. Then using a cloth or sponge, work this mixture into the cabinet-door surface. You’ll find the oil and gunk loosening easily. Finally, wipe the surface clean with a damp cloth.
3. Clean Your Microwave Effortlessly

Keep a wet sponge in the microwave. Fill a spray bottle with water and a few drops of lemon essential oil and spray the insides of your microwave with this mixture. Remember to spray it on every surface inside.
After this, turn your microwave on for two minutes, with the wet sponge inside. Once it turns off, leave it inside for a bit to let the sponge cool a little. Use it to wipe all the surfaces inside, clean. And there you have it! A fresh smelling, steam-cleaned microwave!

We all know that mattresses cannot be washed. But fact remains, that they still need to be cleaned every once in a while, to keep them from becoming a hot-bed for germs or start to smell musty from constant use. Here’s a simple way to go about it.
Remove all bedding from the mattress. Mix a cup of baking soda and a few drops of an essential oil of your choice in a container and give it a good shake, with the lid on. Sprinkle this mixture generously onto your mattress and allow it to sit for 2 hours, allowing the baking soda to remove any body oils and odors from the mattress. Finally, just vacuum it all up using a furniture cleaning attachment. And Voila! Your mattress is refreshed and good as new!
5. Clean Soap-Scum Off Your Tub & Shower Cubicle
Tired of spending hours scrubbing soap scum off you bath-tub or the shower cubicle? Then you’ve got to try this!
Mix 2-parts white vinegar and 1-part dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle. Before you mix the two, make sure you heat the vinegar in the microwave until it gets hot. Spray your bathtub and the shower cubicle down with this solution and let it sit for 2 hours. The more you let it sit, the easier the scrubbing will get for you. Finally, use a scrub brush and lightly remove the scum from all surfaces, before washing them down with water.
