Getting your home organized can be quite an overwhelming task. But with a few simple tips and tricks, you can successfully tackle it. To help you out, we bring you a step-by-step guide to organize your home. Check them out.
1. Make a List
Before you plunge into getting your home organized, walk through each room of the house, identifying and taking notes of the messy spots that need to be organized, be it the tangled wires of the PlayStation, or the paper clutter on the desk. The act of taking notes is important, as it helps you identify the cluttered zones of the house. Plus, it’s always good to go back to the list during or after the cleaning project to see your progress.
2. Set a Date
Once you are done with taking notes, assign yourself dates by which you plan to complete each task and a deadline to complete the entire organizing project.
3. Break it Down
Dealing with all the clutter in your house, all at once can be quite exhausting. So, we suggest you break it down into projects that you can complete within a span of 15-60 minutes. This way, you won’t be exhausting yourself, and eventually, be able to organize your whole house.
4. Keep, Donate Or Trash
Before you start figuring out which thing goes where check if you really need it and think of donating or trashing it if you don’t. (again, this is why breaking down your home organizing plan is a good idea).
5. Store
Once you are done decluttering your house, you will have plenty of things that need to be stored. In case the item that you have decided to keep doesn’t have a home, ensure you assign a specific spot for it and that after every use, it gets put back where it belongs.
6. Make it a Habit
Tackling clutter and cleaning up is a major achievement, and you should be proud of it. Keep up the momentum by making it a habit. Keep in mind, successful routines are always the simple ones, for example, putting a sticky note over your refrigerator to help you remember the day’s tasks, having house rules to put things away after each use, or clearing your desk once you are done working.
7. Congratulations!
