Who doesn’t love a good get-together? And moving into a new home seems like the ideal reason to throw a party! A housewarming party also enables you to share the joy of owning your new home with your friends and relatives while getting the house to feel more like a home – what could be better? Though, in theory it might appear quite easy to arrange a party, but a lot goes into planning the perfect housewarming party. So, to help you, we present to you our top 8 tips to organize the most awesome housewarming party, ever!
1. Jot down a Guestlist
The very first step to organizing a housewarming party is making the guest list! So, before you get started with anything else, sit down and make a note of the guests you would like to see in the party. One easy way to not forget anyone in the list is by scrolling through the contact list on your phone. Additionally, don’t forget to discuss with your family on the number of guests you plan to have on that night, and make changes to your list, accordingly. Also, don’t forget to invite your new neighbors to the party (it’s a great way to break the ice).
2. Make a Plan & Send Out Invites
Once you have a solid guest list in hand, you need to choose the date and time of the party. Will it happen in the daytime, where your guests come and go by the afternoon, or are you planning to throw a fancy dinner party with wine and cocktails. You can even go a step further and host a theme-based party, as well.
Once done with the planning, it is time you send out invitation to your guests. You can either opt for a conventional invitation or be environment-friendly and opt for an e-invitation. However, ensure you have a ‘respond by’ tab on the invitation, so that you have an idea as to how many guests you are looking to entertain and prepare accordingly.
3. Prep the Bathroom For Guests
Though it might seem completely off track, but a clean and hygienic bathroom definitely makes a good impression on your guests. Ensure that the bathroom is well-equipped with essentials like toilet paper, air freshener, hand wash, etc.
4. Get Creative with Seating
For an awesome housewarming party, ensure that you have plenty of seating options ready for your guests. Take out your dining chairs and benches into the living room or put a few cushions on the floor. Still haven’t unpacked the boxes? Wrap them in pretty fabrics and use them as a seating option.
5. Organize Food and Drinks
The first thing people make a beeline for, at a gathering are food and drinks, so place them strategically to flaunt your home’s best spots. In case you have a balcony with an extraordinary view, set up the bar in front of it. Similarly, if you have a beautiful kitchen in place, think of keeping the appetizers on your new marble island.
6. Make the Space Smell Good
Nothing can make your guests feel more comfortable than a good smelling house. So, light up some mildly scented candles, or boil some cinnamon sticks before the party to make your home smell inviting. However, ensure not to overdo it, as too strong a fragrance can be a turn off for many.
7. Make Sure You Enjoy The Party
It may seem quite obvious, yet it’s surprisingly easy to get so immersed in the cooking, serving, bartending and the entertaining that you end up having no fun at your own party. Ask a few of your friends or relatives to take shifts and keep an eye on the kitchen and the drinks station, so you can unwind a bit too. Or better yet, employ a catering service for the housewarming party.
8. Send a Thank You Note
After the housewarming party, don’t forget to send a ‘thank you’ note to your guests who came to share your joy. It could be something as simple as a hand-written note, or even a text, but make sure you thank your guests for their gifts and for helping you celebrate your new home.
