You can’t do much about when they decide to drop by, can you? But, what you definitely can do, is fake an impeccably clean house in just 15 minutes. Want to know how? Read on!

1. Get The House Smelling Nice

The first thing people pick up soon as they enter, are the smells of a place. Start by opening the windows to clear out any stale air. If you use reed diffusers, up-end them for a quick release of fragrance. You can also light scented candles or spray a mild air freshener to remove unpleasant odors. You can even try this tried and tested trick. Have a few sticks of cinnamon in boiling water, simmering on the stove, to have your home smelling wonderful in no time.

2. Gather All Visible Clutter

Clutter lying around can make a house look really messy. Find a basket or a laundry bag and keep stuffing everything you find, into it. Don’t worry about where the items belong. Just keep throwing them in. Once done, just stow the basket away, in a place that your visitors will not have access to.

3. Focus On The Living room

Your guests will most likely spend the most time in the living room, which is why it is best to tackle this area first. Use a damp cloth and give a quick wipe to all surfaces, working your way from left to right. While you’re at it, line up the remotes and lay the cushions and throw pillows neatly on the couch. Finally, use a dustpan and remove any noticeable dirt from the floor.

4. Tackle The Kitchen Next

If you happen to have an open kitchen, your guests will be spending a lot of time there as well.
Make sure you clear the countertops and wipe all visible surfaces clean with a cloth and a cleaning spray (if you don’t have disposable cleaning wipes). Remember to ensure that soap, a hand towel and tissues are accessible.

5. And Of Course The Bathroom

With a cleaning spray and a cloth, wipe down all surfaces quickly, including the mirror. Remove any visible clutter and empty the trashcan. Give the toilet a swift cleaning and flush. Make sure there’s enough handwash liquid in the dispenser and a clean towel on the hanger.

6. Don’t Forget To Freshen Yourself Up!

While you may want your home to be spotlessly clean to leave a good impression on your guests, the truth is that they will spend more time looking at you, than at your house! So, last but not the least, quickly change into something nice, run a comb through your hair, dab on your favorite perfume and wear your best smile to welcome them!
