Tiny living rooms always have us contemplating what to do to benefit as much as possible from the available square footage.

1. Get smart with seating
Having a small living room doesn’t mean you cannot add adequate seating. Just remember not to cram in too many bulky pieces together. As a rule of thumb, remember not to overcrowd your small living room with too many furniture pieces. Rather, pick a sofa that is proportional to the size of the living room. And, in case you need some additional seating options, then opt for stools. They’ll take up far less room than bulky wing chairs and can be moved around easily.
2. Decorate vertically
A room has both vertical and horizontal dimensions. So, if you are falling short on floor space, use up the available vertical space! Make use of floor-to-ceiling drapes to draw the eye upward. Additionally, you can also use the vertical space to install small to midsized artsy pieces. This way not only are you saving on your precious floor space but also creating an illusion of height.
3. Factor in multi-purpose pieces

For an inexpensive way to add storage, use an old trunk as a coffee table, as well as a valuable storage alternative.
5. Add style with pop art!
Hanging artwork is a great way to add style to a small living room. And, by artwork, we don’t mean a gallery wall (it just looks like clutter in a small living room). Instead, stick to a few bigger pieces to minimize visual clutter.
6. Choose cool colors
Make use of pale and cool hues as they reflect light, ultimately making your space look bigger.
