What’s the one spot in your home that you hate cleaning the most? Perhaps it’s the greasy stovetop or that filthy shower curtain, or maybe it is the inside of the microwave covered in splatters! To make your life easy here is a list of the 5 most grimy places around the house and how to clean them.
1. A Messy, Greasy Stovetop
There’s nothing more satisfying than a freshly made dinner—that is, until the point, you take a look at the stovetop and notice the mess you’ve created. Oil and spills all over the place. In case the wreckage has just happened and the stovetop has cooled, now’s the ideal time to act. All you require is some warm soapy water and a microfiber cloth. The microfiber fabric will help in absorbing the oil. Remember to clean the fabric after each wipe to ensure that there’s no residue of food or oil left in it. In case the spill has already cooled off and gotten slightly harder, then dip a scrubbing sponge in hot soapy water and press it over the dirty spot and give it a chance to sit for a couple of minutes before wiping it clean.
2. A Stained Rug
We’ve all been there: You were eating food when you, unfortunately, dropped it on your beloved rug. Try not to rub it clean. Rather, blot the wetness with a paper towel. Once done, combine one teaspoon dishwashing liquid, two tablespoons white vinegar, and one part water. Pour the solution on the spot and let it dry. Once dry, you will see that the spot has vanished.
3. Under the Bed
The area under the bed is often the last spot we think about cleaning—but at the same time the more you avoid cleaning it, the more it becomes a home for dust bunnies. To clean simply wrap the end of the broomstick or brush handle with a microfiber fabric and secure it with an elastic band. The microfiber will catch all the dust, ultimately leaving you with a clean under-the-bed space.
4. The Inside Of A Microwave
For those times when you warm up a bowl of curry and end up with a dirty microwave covered with spills: Place some water and lemon pieces in a microwave-safe bowl, set the cooking time for two minutes, and hit the start button. Once the time is up, let the bowl sit for a minute or two so the steam can soften the splatters. Now, open the door, remove the glass plate, and wash it in the sink with warm water. Wipe down the door and walls of the microwave with a microfiber cloth, and wipe down the outside of the microwave. Remember to clean the microwave as and when spills or splatters happen — as it will just make the cleaning much easier for you.
5. Germy Phones and Tablets
Personal gadgets like phones and tablets contain far larger number of germs than a toilet seat. Hence, cleaning these tech gadgets is important. Clean it with a microfiber cloth that has been sprayed with a little amount of water. The microfiber material will remove the dirt from the surface of the gadget. You can also use rubbing alcohol instead of water to get rid of all the germs and bacteria from your phone.
